The like count and google plusone count in for that matter of any social button count is maintained by the respective button owners (ie. Facebook, Google, Twitter etc.) The count is kept for the URL of the post. Even if there is a little change (even if its a single character change) The count will all be gone. So rule of thumb is change URL and you loose all count.
Well there is a way out and may help you in getting your like counts ( but I am not sure about this) that is implementing "Link rel canonical" but I don't know if there is a plugin exists that will let you put this tag manually for individual posts.
