Here is a quick and simple tutorial on how to change your Facebook relationship status without notifying your friends.
Step 1: Goto your Facebook Timeline and click on the info just below your profile image.
Step 2: Scroll to Basic Info section and click Edit
Step 3: Click on the Dropdown beside the Relationship status and select Only Me. This will make the relationship status visible to only you.
