How to disable Theater mode on Facebook and get the old photo viewer back

Facebook recently changed the Theater mode to a black popup that opens up when you click on a photo. Personally I like this new feature but many may not like this feature. So here is few simple tricks to get back the classic Facebook photo viewer and remove the theater mode while viewing the photos in Facebook.

Temporary solutions

1. Right click on image and select open in new tab or window. The photo loads in old photo viewer when opened in a new tab/window.
2. After opening the image in the theater mode, press F5 to refresh the page. When you refresh the page the image loads in classic photo viewer.

Permanent solution (Only applicable to your browser)

Install the following addon and next time when you open a photo in Facebook it will open up in the old photo viewer.

Mozilla Firefox users:

FB PhotoTheater Killer – This addon does not have a button so once installed and enabled, it will remove the theater mode and display photos in old Facebook photo viewer. This addon is great but it sometimes fails to remove the theater mode.

Google Chrome users:

Revert FB Photo Viewer – is the addon that you can install on Google Chrome. It also does the same thing. Once installed it will load all Facebook photos in the old photo viewer.
