As of June 2011, the total usage share of Internet Explore was around 43%. Out of which Internet Explorer 6 shares around 10% share of the usage. Internet Explorer 6 was built 10 years ago and still a major chunk of Internet users are still using this browser. Microsoft has stopped updating this browser and has also removed support for this browser. It has created a dedicated site www.ie6countdown.com to monitor the usage of IE6. As per this site Microsoft wants to see the usage of IE6 fall below 1% world wide.
Currently China has the most number of users of IE6 with 33.8% of Chinese users uses IE6 followed by India with 10%. Only 4 countries have been able to reduce the usage of IE6 below 1% mark which are Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
As a web developer I will be happy myself if the users of IE6 falls below 1% mark. It will save lot of time of the web developers to provide support for the IE6.
