After 12 weeks of field trial Google+ has finally opened the signup for everyone. Now you do not need an invitation to get a Google+ account. Not only that Google has announced that it will be adding more features for its users.
To start with Google+ is rolling out the new search bar “Search Google+” instead of the earlier “Find People”. I you see the text Search Google+ instead of the Find people then the feature has been add to your account. Google said that they are rolling out this feature slowly to everyone.
So what the specialty of this new search bar. Using the new search in you Google+ profile you will not only be able find people but also posts and sparks. Like if you want to share a popular video that has been shared by someone but you don’t remember who shared that then just search for it and you will get all matching videos. If what you are searching for has already been shared by some friend of yours then that will rank higher on search results.
Here is what Google has to say about the upcoming features
Hangouts has always included a basic set of in-room actions (like group chat and co-viewing of YouTube videos), but we want to make it easier to do a lot more. That’s why we’re previewing some extras, including:
- Screensharing: for when you want to show off your vacation photos, your high score, your lesson plan or whatever else is on your screen
- Sketchpad: for when you want to draw, doodle, or just scribble together
- Google Docs: for when you want to write, plan or present something with others
- Named Hangouts: for when you want to join or create a public hangout about a certain topic (like fashion or music or sports…)
The interesting thing would be to see what new features Facebook will be coming up with to match up with the new features of Google+. With the introduction of the new “Subscribe” button and the “List” (the Facebook version of Google+ Circles) Facebook has already made it a point that it will not let Google to take away its users. Though current Facebook has no answer to the “Hangout” feature of Google+.
