Sometimes you are writing a wordpress tutorial on your wordpress blog such as myself and you need to add a shortcode in pure text form without executing it. But to your horror you realize that its not that simple as it sounds. That is because if you try to add the shortcode in clear text to your post instead of getting
Method 1 – The default WordPress method
WordPress does have a built in method to make shortcodes display as test without executing them. All you need to do is use double opening and closing square brackets instead of one that we normally do for shortcodes.
e.g. [[shortcode]]
Method 2 – Using a Plugin
Method 1 is not full proof and it does not work pretty well if you want to show multi-level or nested shortcodes as text. So easier and full proof way is to use a plugin. One such plugin is the Show Shortcode Plugin that you can use. All you need to do is add the whole shortcode between the tages [showshortcode] [showshortcode][/showshortcode] [/showshortcode]
e.g. [showshortcode] [showshortcode] [your-shortcode-here] [/showshortcode] [/showshortcode]
